"Let your mind start a journey thru a strange new world. Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before. Let your soul take you where you long to be. Close your eyes let your spirit start to soar, and you'll live as you've never lived before." - Erich Fromm
As this year begins, I already have the feeling that it's going to be quite a journey. Last year was the year I'd like to think I grew up -- at least a little bit. I saw what life was like on the other side of what I've known for so long. It was definitly tough and I feel like it sort of needed to happen so I could see the bigger picture.
I can see it know, it's right in front of my face and I don't think I could do that to myself again - jeopardize the only life I've ever known for a moment that will someday be a blur.
Fromm makes a valid point. Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before. 2010 calls for some big life changes. Not only is Vancouver hosting the Winter Olympic games (groans vs. cheers?) but I feel that this world event calls for self-reflective thoughts about how I want to present myself to the world this year.
I don't want to make a New Years Resolution, because it sort of works like a joke that didn't work because the punch line was weak -- I'd only be making these resolutions because it's that time of the year. I don't think that my commitment or heart would be there to follow through with them for the entire year, and I don't want to set myself up for pre-determined failure.
The only thing I truly want this year is to be happy, courageous and experience what the world has to offer, big girl style.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010
